Hello all,
As the three of us seniors sit together, we can't help thinking that tomorrow is our last first game of our careers. That thought brings mixed emotions. On one end, we are so excited to begin a new season, but knowing that it is our last season makes it bittersweet. But, after all of the sweat, bruises, black eyes (Dana & Cara), flu scares, and most of all hard work of the preseason, the season is finally about to begin and we can't wait. This is our first road trip of many and hopefully it is just one of many firsts this season.
As I was sitting next to Andi after practice (when we were supposed to be stretching), I started thinking about how weird it is that I really am entering my final season as a Bonnie. I thought of all of the people that I have played with since I have been here and how they are off living their lives and I am lucky enough to still be playing the sport I love. It made me realize how much those people have taught me over my last three years and how I want to represent what they have stood for and make them proud. And I can't wait to start it off right tomorrow night at Binghamton. -Dana
For me, it just doesn't seem real that this is my last first game. I was supposed to experience this all last year, but thanks to my fifty-year-old knees, I'm back! Sitting out an entire year, I was able to see the game through the coaches eyes. It was a completely different perspective than what I was used to as a player. I think totally different now when I am on the court. Even though I may not be able to physically play as many minutes as I used to, I am so thankful to be playing at all. Losing basketball for a year made me realize how much I love the game and how much I love playing and I can't wait to get out there tomorrow. Seeing how special our team was last Friday, makes me so excited to be here for another year.-Tiara
Last Friday, we opened the season with an exhibition game against Mansfield. Prior to the men's exhibition game, we unveiled the WNIT Quarterfinals Banner that we received last year. Having Kate, Ash, and Snake back (Erica was busy in Vegas) and the entire team together was amazing. When I came to Bonaventure, I told coach I wanted to help the team get a banner for the Reilly Center and we did that last year. Seeing that banner being unveiled brought tears to my eyes. My coaches and teammates know that I'm a little emotional (Thanks Mom) so of course they laughed, but seriously, when I thought about all the hard work we put in for that made me very proud and even more excited to start and achieve even more this season.-Andi
This Friday starts a long stretch of basketball for us Bonnies. We will playing four games in seven days but we are ready for the challenge and excited to start. Hopefully, you all come out to our home opener Sunday at 1:00 vs. Akron to see what we will bring to the table this year. Don't wait until the end of the season to come cheer us on..."Don't be Tardy for the Party!"...Your seniors, signing out...GO BONNIES!

Welcome to the 2009-2010 Bonnies women's basketball senior blog! With the launch of the new GoBonnies.com, we thought it would be a great idea to create something new for our fans...so here goes the first of many blogs written by the oldest, but wisest folks aka the seniors (Me, Tiara, and Dana) of the Lady Bonnies!
Where do I start? I guess I'll start from the beginning...As I packed my things and started the six and a half hour drive back to Bonas from my hometown of East Lansing, Mich., I thought about many things. I couldn't believe that this would be the last, first drive back to school and I couldn't believe that I was a senior. Everyone says it goes by fast, but it seems like yesterday that Dana and I were awkwardly shaking hands in the hallway of Robinson Hall after we nervously arrived to start summer school as freshmen. I thought about all of the amazing memories Bonaventure and basketball has brought me throughout my previous three years here and I thought about what my final year would bring.
Basketball wise, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We lost a lot of great players (Kate Murray, Ashley Edwards, Erica Schiefen and Priscilla Edwards), but more importantly, great people last year that were influential in building our program. Last year's WNIT run was an amazing experience and I thought about what amazing things this year would bring. I've been so impressed by our team this year and how our chemistry has really clicked.
Preseason was tough but that's nothing new. It always seems like the longest two months of my life, but we all worked hard, pushed through it, and got better. With that over, practice finally came...YES! "We talkin' bout practice!" And now, we are only a week away from our exhibition game. Like I said, time flies when you're having fun!
I know we are all so excited about starting the season and we hope you are too. We can't wait to get on the court at the Reilly Center and we hope you are as excited to watch us play as we are pumped to play! Here are your seniors...signing out....See you next Friday!
